The beast awakens.
Two interesting tidbits of news from the world, about products I wrote about on my other blog.
The first being about a weight loss surgery where a band is put around the upper part of your stomach. It is called a lap band. Well, it seems that this procedure is very popular in Australia, and a study found that people having the lap band applied eliminated their need for insulin. I probably should have said first that the study was done using obese diabetics. Regardless, the folks using the band didn’t have to use insulin, whereas the baseline group, who only used their diabetic meds showed no improvement. I find that amazing. Understanding that if you lose weight, you lose your propensity for weight related disease. But still..
The second items has to do with LED lights. I have written a couple of times about these, just the other day in the local newspaper I saw that a local bank is replacing the flourescent lighting from their bank sign, and replacing them with LED lights. This banks sign is on like the 25th floor of an office building, and is a very prominent part of the Harrisburg skyline. I don’t know if my postings about LED’s led them to replace the lights of their sign or not, but I would like to think that I was instrumental in their decision.
My major ego problem rears its ugly head.
Sorry.
Namaste.

Good luck with the weight loss but I’d be leery of using the Atkins diet…I’ve heard it can cause kidney damage. Not sure if that is true but you might want to investigate. I am a bit of a carb addict myself but have recently gotten involved with a local group that is promoting locally grown food which ultimately means that you stop eating so much processed food. I now eat more squash, parsnips, etc. I think it has helped my weight. I know it is hard to not crave carbs though. I love beer as well but drink the non-alcohol stuff. it only has 50 calories. I’ll keep reading your blog so yes, some one is listening!

We have been vegetarian, and then we went back to modified vegetarian. I have lost the most of my weight with Atkins and will only be on it for another 25lbs. Then I go to Weight Watchers. Thanks for stopping by, hope to talk to you more soon.
Namaste.
