The difference between want and need
Looking at the words “want”, and “need” we know that there are specific differences between them.
A “want” is a desire. Something that you would like.
A “need” is an imperative. It is something that is necessary for either your survival, or for your well-being.
But fat people mix the two up. At least this person gets wants and needs mixed up constantly. My body needs food every day. Different kinds of food for survival. Mixtures of carbs, proteins, sugars, vitamins, and minerals to just keep on keeping on.
My head wants sweets. Lots and lots of sweets. Ice cream. Chocolate. Candy bars. Brownies. Pie. And it is the wanting on these items that screws up everything else.
I started eating carbs again this last weekend. I put on 5 lbs. I knew that that was going to happen, but it still was a kick in the groin to see those numbers on the scale this morning. The immediate thought was that I needed to get back on Atkins to get rid of the new weight. But I won’t. I can’t. I have to be able to eat like a normal person and be ok with that.
How do you get beyond want and need? What are your struggles? chime in and lets talk.
Namaste.
