<p>Is it really easy weight loss when you are constantly thinking about what you can and cannot eat?  But it has meant a loss of 6 lbs over the past 4 days.</p>
<p>That is a lot of pounds by any account.  And on Atkins, it is not a fun go.  Regardless of being able to eat all the meat I want.  After a couple of days it isn&#8217;t fun, now isn&#8217;t it?</p>
<p>But it is 6 lbs.</p>
<p>And that means something right now.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This isn&#8217;t going to be a happy, positive post.  This isn&#8217;t going to be a post where you are going to return because it inspires you.  But it might be a post you return to because is strikes a chord in you.</p>
<p>This post is about my struggle with weight loss.  I would love to tell you that losing weight is as easy as it sounds.  The concept of weight loss is incredibly easy.  Move more, eat less, lose weight.  That is the magic bullet.  The magic formula.</p>
<p>And I struggle with it every day of my life.  Being fat hurts both physically and emotionally.  Fat jokes, comments, knowing that you are being looked at differently than your counterparts.  All of those things hurt.  Being fat also hurts you physically in that your body hurts.  All the time.  Feet, legs, sides, back.  You name it, it hurts from carrying more weight than your body is made for.</p>
<p>So why not lose weight?  We try.  You try, I try.  Sometimes we lose some,  and sometimes we don&#8217;t.  It gets as frustrating as hell, doesn&#8217;t it?  We try sensible programs, and we try the not so sensible.  Me?  What works for me is knowing that I have a eating disorder.</p>
<p>Yeah, you read that right.  I have an eating disorder in that I can&#8217;t eat normally.  If I try, I over eat.  Like one drink too much, and 100 drinks is never enough for an alchoholic.  For me 1 donut is too much, and 100 will just make me puke and start all over.</p>
<p>I can understand what bulemics, and anorexics go through.  Not completely, but to the extent that I am so much happier when I completely control my food intake.  Atkins is the way that I do this.  I know that I can lose weight following the Atkins program.  I also know that after awhile I will be a raging bundle of cravings.  But I will lose weight.</p>
<p>And that is what it is all about, right?</p>
<p>It isn&#8217;t easy, is it?  I struggle, you struggle.  When is it going to start being normal?</p>
<p>I haven&#8217;t found that answer yet.</p>

<div>Until you attach that thought to a want or desire.  The desire to get into some clothes that don&#8217;t fit any longer.  To fit into a smaller size.  Once you take that first step from thought to desire, you are on the road to goal setting.</div>
<div>And that is where weight loss begins.  Being able to aritculate what you want, visualize the outcome, and want it so bad that you can taste it.  Then you are are on the road to permanent weight loss.</div>
<div>Goal setting.</div>
<div>Lets put this into practice.  And I will volunteer to be the practice dummy.  Though I am not all that fond of that terminology. </div>
<div>What I want is to lose weight.  Granted.  But that is too vague.  To be specific, I want to lose 100 lbs.</div>
<div>Holy crap.  That is a lot of lbs.  But in goal setting one million is as good as one.  Why?  Because we are going to break those 100 lbs down into increments.  I am not going to lose 100 lbs overnight.  It will most likely take me the best part of a year to do.  If not more.  But that is the goal 100 lbs.</div>
<div>So I have my goal.  How do I visualize it?  I have pictures of me when I weighed 200 lbs.  I will bring those pics out, even though my hair looks stupid in them, and I will commit the way that I looked then into memory.  And I will on a daily basis bring that picture into mind as if I already weigh that amount.</div>
<div>Hocus pocus?  No.  Mind training is more like it.  And this is the beginning steps to goal setting.  Establishing the goal, being able to picture the end result, and accepting that that result has already been acheived.</div>
